OnePlus 3/3T starts getting Android Oreo based OxygenOS Open Beta

It’s not a secret that OnePlus and Samsung had already started developing Android Oreo for their devices. Also, we know that OnePlus 3/3T and Samsung S8/S8+ could be the first to get Oreo feeding from OnePlus and Samsung respectively. True to our expectations, at least in the case of OnePlus, the Chinese firm has now released Oxygen OS Open Beta based on Android Oreo for its last year’s flagships OnePlus 3/3T.

The Android Oreo based Oxygen OS beta release was officially annouced by a staff member on OnePlus forum.

We are very excited to announce that we are ready to put out the first Open Beta build based on Android 8.0 for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T devices.

OpenBeta version 25 for the OnePlus 3 and version 16 for the OnePlus 3T

Version 25 and 16 of OnePlus 3 and 3T respectively brings the major Android Oreo OS upgrade. Apart from OS upgrade, the build do carries September security patch and all the tasty ingredients of the Android Oreo. OnePlus forum has enlisted following Changelogs of the initial build.

    • Added Picture in Picture, Auto-fill and Smart text selection features.
    • New Quick Settings design.

    • Now able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus through wallpapers.

Definitely, we should expect some errors, crashes or bugs with every beta release of a software. Similarly OnePlus had published currently known issue in the 25/16 OpenBeta version on its forum.

Known issues

• Fingerprint actions may be slower than you are used to.
• Shortcut to access Google Photos is unavailable.
• Some stability issues with NFC and bluetooth.
• Performance and compatibility of 3rd party apps will continue to be optimized.

So, users of OnePlus 3/3T having previous Open Beta firmware(N) get ready as the update could hit via OTA. Instead, if you’re running stable Oxygen OS build, you need to flash the 1.48GB sized firmware files to taste the Android Oreo.
