Samsung Bixby 2.0 to launch next year, will be ubiquitous on all Samsung devices

Samsung has already announced Bixby 2.0 less than 8 months after Bixby came out. Although, the second version is not yet available to the public. At the Developer Conference in San Francisco, Samsung said Bixby 2.0 will support all Samsung devices, be ubiquitous, and also accept third-party developer contributions. Now, a top Samsung official has just revealed that v2.0 will launch next year.

Vice President of Samsung, Ji Soo Yi said, “We will be launching Bixby 2.0 in 2018, which will be designed to be used for any and all electronic devices.” He didn’t disclose the precise date of the rollout. Yi also said that Bixby will be a central command unit for all home devices like mobile phones, television and refrigerators, including a variety of electronic equipments.

Yi was also quizzed on the possibility of Bixby coming to more smartphones, and he replied it was certain. Again, there is no shortlist here too to ascertain particular models but the executive said they are working on it. He specifically mentioned India as a key market for such new AI tech and Samsung is developing Indian language accents into Bixby with the help of language experts.

It is quite clear that Samsung envisions Bixby as the central interface of its electronic ecosystem and India is also an integral part of it. At the moment, the Korean brand is still the leader in the competitive Indian Electronics segment with a 24% share.
