Sony officially announces the Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and L2

Sony updated their mid range segment with two new selfie centric smartphones – the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra. Along with that, they also unwrapped a new budget offering Xperia L2. However, we already knew the existence of these smartphones as they were leaked few days back.

The Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra are the successors to last year’s XA1 and XA1 Ultra. The major difference between the two generations is that the newer one comes with Snapdragon processor and the fingerprint sensor is now placed on the back rather than on power button. On the other hand, the Xperia L2 is the successor to 2013’s Xperia L with un unspecified processor (probably Mediatek).

The Xperia XA2 Ultra comes with dual front cameras whereas the XA2 features only one. Also, the XA2 Ultra has bigger screen size and more battery than the regular XA2. They both run on Android Oreo out of the box. However, the Xperia L2 ships with Android Nougat, but will be updated soon.

Moreover, these will be the first of Sony smartphones to hit US markets with fingerprint sensor on board. Previously, all the Sony smartphones sold in the US lacked the fingerprint scanner support.
