Xiaomi has recently confirmed the launch date of their next-gen fitness band, Mi Band 5, which is scheduled to be released on June 11. This is to note that Mi Band 5 is set to be initially launched in China before making its way to other markets. Xiaomi announced the release date on Weibo, however, the specifications or pricing has not been revealed until this time.
In terms of looks and design statements, we don’t expect a major overhaul except for a larger 1.2-inch display compared to a 0.95-inch display on Mi Band 4. It is to note that the Xiaomi’s upcoming band will be equipped with some new features that include NFC support, SpO2 functionality (blood oxygen level tracking), camera shutter key that allows controlling your camera to a certain extent, alongside Alexa support for the global variant. Mi Band 5 will also include new fitness modes for a total of 11 sports and activities and will be available in four color variants: yellow, red, green, and black (as reflects in the image below).
While Mi Band 5 will be unveiled on June 11, it will only be available for purchase starting June 18 in China. The company did not say a word about its plans to launch the device in other markets. However, the previous launch schedules indicate that the device will soon be available in other countries.
Mi Band 4 is currently priced at INR 2,299 in India and it is very likely that the company will launch Mi Band 5 at the same price. We’ll keep you posted as and when we know about Mi Band 5 launch outside of China.
